Every idea starts with a problem
Mine was simple. I wanted a place to train without the fanaticism of CrossFit, the crowds at the big clubs and the guidance of a coach without the price of a personal trainer. I also wanted to be with a community of like-minded people who cared more about being fit than looking fit.
I found myself lost in a complex web of conflicting viewpoints, edgy pundits and “scientific breakthroughs.” No matter where I looked I came up short.
So I started training on my own in the back corner of a warehouse I leased. A couple buddies got wind of what I was doing, joined me a couple nights a week, and the idea of The Core began to evolve.
I wanted to make the process of getting fit easier, accessible and more fun, so in October 2007 I started The Core in a warehouse — With borrowed equipment and a used set of Play It Again Sports kettlebells.
And we’re still here, picking stuff up and putting it down.
What We Believe
These guiding principles drive everything we do at The Core.
For everything we do, we start with the member in mind. We want to earn and keep your trust. We’re always looking for a new way to make you smile.
Extreme ownership is leadership and it’s contagious. Leaders instill the desire to improve in all their team members and take the most difficult jobs, regardless of tenure or job description.
Bias For Action
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to get permission. Few things are irreversible, it’s better to take action now than to deliberate endlessly.

Thinking big is thinking long term. By simply thinking big and having long term goals, you put yourself way ahead of the crowd. We cannot realize our potential as people or as a company without thinking and executing over a long time horizon.
